Description

This is the longest Trail in the Black Mountain Range. <br />
<br />
Where the trail intersects the Access road to Mt. Mitchell (SR 128). The trail then continues along an old railroad grade. <br />
<br />
After Maple Camp Bald the trail then descends through old growth fir and spruce forests.

Directions

One trailhead is located off of forest service road 472 near the Parkway.<br /><br /><br /><br />The other is located off of Colbert Creek Road.<br /><br /><br /><br />To the Colbert Creek Trailhead: From Carolina Hemlocks Recreation Area head North to the gas station at Hamrick. Turn left onto Colbert Creek Road and continue to the bridge over Colbert's Creek Turn Right at this bridge. The trail head will be up the road on your left (there is a log cabin across the street).
